At the past weeks, there are many news that surprised me actually. They attracted my attention, in certain fields of the newspaper.The top news of the week in environment field is about the earthquake which happened in Padang,Indonesia. This news was concerned by many other countries. The earthquake happened on 30th September 2009, 6.16pm in malaysia time. Some of the high-rise building in Malaysia can feel the shaking when the earthquake occured. The alert of tsunami was sent to other countries such as Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Thailand and more. After that, the warning was canceled on 7.45p.m. The 7.9 earthquake caused some places such as Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, Klang, Putra Jaya and so on felt the shaking of the buildings, too.
On the field of entertainment, Roman Polanski, the Oscar's best director who awarded at 2003 year was arrested at Switzerland. He was charged at 1977 year with the reason of having sex with a 13 year-old girl. According to the news, he did not back to United State for years since he wanted to escape from jail. The France states that this director was borned at Paris, France, and he was ready to accept award in Zurich Film Festival before he was arrested. Unfortunately, before he get back to his home at Switzerland, he was arrested by the international warrant. According to the Hollywood, he was awarded as the Best Director in Oscar 2003. His successful film was "The Pianist".
For the sport news, Malaysia's badminton player, Lee Chong Wei was forced to cancel his matches since the injury of his left leg. There were 4 matches left but he had to quit to prevent a serious injury. He was informed that he had to do a surgery since his left leg was seriously hurt. Moreover, the doctor, Dato' Ramlan Abd Aziz warned Lee that he had to rest after his surgery. He said, Lee could fully recover on about November for the fastest. This meant that Lee could not take part on the following open matches in Denmark, France, Hong Kong, and China. Then, the doctor told him that he might be able to take part in the SEA games match which having in Laos on the coming months.
On the field of politic in Malaysia, YB Senator Dato' Wong Foon Meng, the secretary general of MCA claimed that any bidding of votes on the eve of Extraordinary Meeting of the General Assembly(9/10/2009) are straightly prohibited. The bidding of votes on the day of the meeting(10/10/2009) are prohibited too. When discussed about whether the newspaper is one of the promote ways then he told the media that it is not a way to bidding votes. The actions of bidding their votes are straightly being prohibited during the day of meeting around the building of MCA.
One of the big news that was concerned by many people which is the celebration of 60 year-old of China. This celebration of 60th anniversary was very attractive and this was being concerned by about the whole world. On the 1st October 2009, about 200000 people was took part in the celebration. The people who took part in the celebration were the President Hu Jintao, former president Jiang Zemin, and the members of the ruling Politburo Standing Committee who watched the rostrum of Tiananmen. About thousands of soldiers paraded down Chang'an Avenue through the Tiananmen Square. This celebration attracted my attention since it was being highly expected by the people. Beside this, the pictures which posted on every newspapers opened my eyes with its colourful scene. They wore colourful uniforms and clothes, some of them hold some flowers too so it could be a perfect scene. I surprised to see this big celebration although I have already expected this could be a big show. I am so glad to see China, a peaceful and beauty place, wore its dress as its 60th year old birthday.
